Punjabi singer booked for property grab

Jalandhar : Punjabi singer Gulzar Lahoria, his wife and two accomplices have been booked for property fraud on the complaint of a US-based non-resident Indian.
Complainant Rajinder Singh told the police that Lahoria, who is his distant relative, had illegally occupied a two-storeyed house bought by his father in 1998.
Rajinder Singh, who is a banker, said as his family lived in the US, they had asked Lahoria to take care of the property in Isharpur Colony here.
The family had also kept some items, including two air conditioners, furniture and television, in a locked room on the first floor, he told the police.
When the complainant visited the city on February 8 this year, he found some items missing from the room, following which he filed a complaint with the police commissioner.
During the initial probe conducted by former assistant commissioner of police (ACP, control) Jasvir Singh Rai,
Lahoria’s wife, Manpreet Kaur, claimed that the complainant’s father, Maan Singh, had sold the house to them for Rs 45 lakh, and they had already paid Rs 25 lakh.
She also claimed that Maan Singh was supposed to visit the city to get the house registered in her name on February 9 last year, but he failed to turn up, following which they filed a legal case.
