Punjab:Amandeep Kaur, the former convener of Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) Ferozepur unit, has levelled some serious allegations that could spell further trouble for the party that is already faced with a string of allegations ahead of its debut in the Punjab Assembly polls scheduled next year.
The former AAP leader, who resigned last year alleging that there was no respect and safety of women in the party, has said that at least 52 women including her were sexually harassed by male colleagues.
According to reports, Kaur had apprised the party bigwigs in writing about the conduct of male members but no action was taken against anyone.
This is not the first time that Kaur has accused male members of AAP of harassment and trying to defame female workers in the poll-bound state.
Kaur had in the past alleged that male members of the party disgraced her for months and uploaded her fake photos on the social media to defame her.
On the other hand, taking suo motu cognisance of media reports about exploitation of women, Punjab State Women Commission on Tuesday asked Director General of Police (DGP) to investigate the matter.
“We have taken suo motu cognisance of the reports appearing in print and electronic media about the ‘exploitation of women’ in return of tickets. And we have asked DGP Punjab Police to investigate the matter and submit the report to the Commission,” Commission Chairperson Paramjit Kaur Landran said.
