Lambi (Bathinda), June 18, Bureau: Thousands of people from Lambi and surrounding areas today staged a massive protest demonstration against the corruption indulged into by the Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal’s family here today.
The dharna was led by the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee president Capt Amarinder Singh and attended among others by Manpreet Singh Badal, who was the in charge, Charanjit Singh Channi, Raja Warring, Sunil Jakhar, Laal Singh, Harish Chaudhary, Rana Gurjeet Singh and others.
Addressing the dharna, Capt Amarinder lashed out at Mr Badal, saying, his countdown had started and it had been divinely ordained when the Granthi at Darbar Sahab declined to offer him Siropa.
“It was the divine judgement that day which Badal should understand that a simple religious man Balbir Singh, who had otherwise nothing against Badal and ran the risk of losing his job, which eventually he lost, could not present Siropa to him”, he said, while arguing that the “divine judgement had already been delivered in Badal’s case”.
“I have always been warning Badal that there is divine justice which prevails at the end and it has started from Darbar Sahab”, he said, amidst the shouts of Bole So Nihal.
Referring to the direct involvement of Daya Singh Kolianwali the frontman of Badal, who has taken money from people for getting them jobs, Capt Amarinder announced that he will meet the same fate as that of Ravi Sidhu, a former Chairman of the Punjab Public Service Commission who was arrested and later sentenced for corruption and has spent most of the time in jail since then. “I will not forgive those who cheated and robbed those helpless people who desperately wanted jobs and I promise you I am not going to forget or forgive Kolianwali either”, he warned.
“Let me warn Kolianwali and his godfather Badal today that what I did with Ravi Sidhu, I will repeat with you and everything will finally lead to Badal as he acts at Badal’s behest only”, he said, while expressing surprise as why no action had been taken against him despite so many complaints.
Instead, he regretted the police was harassing and victimizing the victims who have been duped of lakhs of rupees in the hope of getting jobs. He said, the Badals had fixed the rates for jobs at Rs 15 lakhs for the post of a constable and Rs 50 lakhs for the job of an engineer.
Referring to the agricultural crisis, Capt Amarinder reiterated that his government will continue with free power to farmers, 300 units of free power to dalits and the downtrodden, increase the Shagun scheme to Rs 51,000 and the old age, widow and handicapped pension to Rs 2000 per month.
Speaking on the occasion Punjab Congress vice president Manpreet Singh Badal said that the name of Sukhbir Badal had become synonymous with corruption. He said, corruption has gone into the blood of Sukhbir and his greed was multiplying. “SO much so even the servants of the servants’ of Sukhbir had amassed huge wealth through corruption, which has become trademark of Mr Badal and Sukhbir”, he said.
