Bhagwant Mann seeks apology from media, blames Journalist for objectionable comments
With a case slapped on him for his alleged misbehaviour with mediapersons, AAP Sangrur MP Bhagwant Mann on Monday said he reacted in that manner after a journalist asked “irritating” questions. He also said he “respects” the media.
Mann, while addressing a gathering in favour of Brig (retd) Raj Kumar, said “Our party’s fight is against Badals and not against media. I apologise from the media fraternity for my remarks in Bassi Pathana. I never wanted to offend the media and it just happened inadvertently. Media has always supported me. But I somehow got irritated because of personal remarks made against me upon my arrival there.”
Punjab police have registered a case against Mann on the complaint that he and his supporters allegedly misbehaved with mediapersons at a rally in Bassi Pathana in Fatehgarh Sahib district on September 1.
On Monday, he was addressing ‘Badal Bhajao-Punjab Bachao’ rally at Mianpur village near here. Mann accused the ruling party Shiromani Akali Dal of trying to vitiate atmosphere by disturbing AAP rallies.
He said SAD workers had attacked AAP workers at Malout and police had “failed” to register case against miscreants. He said violence has no place in democracy.
