28-year-old Tarun Kumar of Sultanpur Lodhi committed suicide on Wednesday by consuming poisonous substance after uploading a video on social networking site in which he blamed his NRI wife and in-laws for his extreme step.
In the video, he spoke about his wife and in-laws whom he blamed for his suicide. He also left a suicide note.
Soon after the video was uploaded, Kumar’s friend rushed to his house to save him but it was late and he had already consumed the poison by that time. He was immediately taken to the hospital but could not survive.
He also named his wife’s mother, Sukhwinder Kaur, and sister, Bhavjot Kaur.
Sultanpur Lodhi station house officer (SHO) Harpreet Singh said that a case under Section 306 (abetment to suicide) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) had been registered against the victim’s wife and in-laws on the basis of the suicide note.
“His wife is in Canada but raids are on to arrest his in-laws,” the station house officer said.
