The Jathedars appointed by ‘Sarbat Khalsa’ on 10th Nov, 2015 initiated parallel functioning at Sri Akal Takht Sahib after paying obeisance at Sri Darbar Sahib.
They also passed a ‘gurmata’ ) to summon Punjab Deputy CM Sukhbir Badal to appear before Sri Akal Takht Sahib on July 20 to submit the findings of the investigation and the action-taken report on the series of incidents of sacrilege of Sahib Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji.
The accused persons who made an amendment to the ‘amrit sanchar’ ceremony at a gurdwara in Virginia have been summoned on August 20.
They also criticised the state government’s move to commemorate International Yoga Day in Chandigarh on June 21. This event is expected to be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other VVIPs.
Today’s meeting was attended by Sri Akal Takht Sahib’s interim ‘Jathedar’ Dhian Singh Mand, Takht Kesgarh Sahib’s ‘Jathedar’ Amrik Singh Ajnala and Takht Damdama Sahib ‘Jathedar’ Baljit Singh Daduwal. Mand pronounced the ‘gurmata’ near the Ghanta Ghar.
The sudden entry of the three ‘jathedars’ led by ‘acting Jathedar’ of Sri Akal Takht Sahib Dhyan Singh Mand took many by surprise and the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committe (SGPC) task force, along with cops, swung into action and reached the spot. While they looked on in panic, Sri Darbar Sahib manager Sulakhan Singh also reached there.
The presence of parallel ‘jathedars’ gave a tough time to the SGPC while members of its task force were seen exchanging heated arguments with mediapersons, who were trying to cover the development.
