A video of Parliament live-streamed on Facebook by Bhagwant Mann, an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP from Punjab, provoked a political storm today as the BJP-led NDA demanded action against the lawmaker for endangering security of one of the most important buildings in Delhi.
Uproar in the Lok Sabha led to its first adjournment within the first 10 minutes.
In the nearly 12 minute video, Mr Mann gives a running commentary as his vehicle crosses security barricades, while entering Parliament. “I’ll today show you something you would not have seen earlier,” he says.
Mr Mann then enters a room where questions to be taken up inside Parliament are being sorted and describes the process. A security official is heard telling him not to take photographs, but he replies: “I’ll not take photo… will maintain confidentiality.”
Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, in the Rajya Sabha, alleged a “conspiracy by the AAP lawmaker to compromise the security of Parliament” by streaming a video of various layers of screening and checks.
However, Mann was unperturbed by the criticism and said that he would put another video on social media on Friday as well. “Google Earth shows approach to Parliament on its website,” Mann said in his defence today.
