The Aam Adami Party’s (APP) top honchos and volunteers have decided to greet the entry of Navjot Sidhu with aplomb and propose to him that he should get himself cleared from the pending Supreme Court case at the earliest.
Even as speculation over Navjot Singh Sidhu switching over to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and becoming its chief ministerial candidate for assembly elections continues, the party may be the first to announce names of some of its candidates for the Punjab elections next year.
Three days after cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu resigned from the Rajya Sabha and has all but formally quit the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), two frontline Punjab leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) said Sidhu will join the AAP but he will neither contest the assembly polls due early next year nor be projected as the chief ministerial face.
AAP’s Punjab in-charge Sanjay Singh denied media reports published in a section of the press that Navjot’s entry would have cascading effect on the party cadre, and added that all would be happy to see Sidhu in the party.
