Shiv Sena workers protest against the movie ‘Udta Punjab’ in Ludhiana over “abusive content”
Opposing the screening of the movie ‘Udta Punjab’ while its first show was on inside the cinema hall, a Shiv Sena faction, Hindu Suraksha Samiti and other radical Hindu organisations held a protest outside Omaxe Mall here on Friday.
Carrying placards against the film, activists of the, held protest and raised slogans against the producers and director. Heavy police force was deployed around the mall as the administration was anticipating the protest. Harish Singla, who led the protest, said, “The film is depicting Punjab in a wrong way as it is portraying that the entire state is in the grip of drugs. The film is full of vulgar dialogues, which is against Punjab.”
However, despite the protest, a large number of viewers, especially students, were seen standing in queues buy tickets.
After overcoming the hurdles created by the censor board, a faction of Shiv Sena, Hindu Suraksha Samiti, and other radical Hindu organisations held a protest against the screening of the film outside the Omaxe Mall in Mumbai.
