Punjab deputy chief minister and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal on Tuesday launched a song and video called ‘Lalkar’ (‘challenge’) to counter the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) track ‘Nasha’ launched last month. On YouTube, however, only a teaser was available until Tuesday night, and the full song is likely to be out within this week.
‘Lalkar’, also spelt ‘Lalkaar’ in the video teaser, is backed by the SAD wing Student Organisation of India (SOI) that has termed it “a befitting reply to sung by one of the AAP leaders” Kumar Vishwas. It is sung by Meetpal Singh Dugri, SOI president for Malwa zone-3. Parmbans Singh Bunty Romana, state coordinator of SOI, was also present at the release. It glorifies Punjab’s history and culture with references to individuals.
