A 35-year-old woman allegedly threw her two minor daughters into a canal with the help of her paramour. The Lehra police have arrested the accused and registered a case of murder.
As per the FIR, Gindro, alias Gindo, from Sunam, victims’ paternal aunt, said her brother Bawa Singh was married to Pooja from Narwana. The couple had four children — three daughters and a son. They were staying at Indira Basti, Sunam. But after the death of her brother around one-and-a-half months ago, one of their daughters shifted to their relatives’ house in Jind, as Pooja was unable to take care of all four children due to financial constraints, she said.
“Pooja had developed illicit relations with a local youth, Ajay, and wanted to get rid of her children. She took her daughters Rekha (8) and Seema (10) to Lehra two days ago along with Ajay where they threw the girls into a canal,” said Gindro, while talking to the media at the local civil hospital.
After getting information that both girls have gone missing, Gindro lodged a complaint and last night the police recovered their bodies from the canal.
