Texas : Four officers have been killed and 10 wounded in Dallas amid protests over fatal police shootings this week in Minnesota and Louisiana.
The Dallas police chief says it appears two snipers shot officers during the protests. One of the suspects has now turned himself in to police.
Police Chief David Brown said in a statement that three of the officers who were injured are in critical condition. He says the snipers shot from “elevated positions” during a protest over two recent fatal police shootings.
“An intensive search for suspects is currently underway,” Police Chief Brown said. “No suspects are in custody at this time. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers tonight.”
The gunfire broke out around 8.45pm local time (11.45am AEST).
