Jalandhar, June 14, 2016 (Punjab Spectrum Bureau): Mohinder Kumar alias Kaala a property dealer, who was kidnapped Tuesday morning by armed men at gunpoint from near his residence here was kidnapped for a ransom of Rs.One crore. The Jalandhar police have rescued the man and arrested four kidnappers.
Addressing a press conference here, Jalandhar Police Commissioner Arpit Shukla said, Mohinder Kumar Kaala, a resident of Rose Park locality, who was kidnapped at around 8.30 in the morning at gunpoint by four armed men in a white Swift Car was rescued from Gidderpindi village near Lohian in the district.
Shukla said that they got initial clues from a CCTV footage and were able to trace the location of the accused and the victim on the basis of his mobile location which remained switched on during the entire episode.
Those arrested have been identified as Gurpreet Singh and Lalit both residents of Patti, Raman Kumar of Chherata and Gurdev Singh Gaba a resident of village Burj in the district of Tarn Taran.
Two of their accomplices who are yet to be arrested include Vikas Jolly of Majitha Road, Amritsar and Gurvinder Singh of Patti.
The Commissioner told media that the group had planned the kidnapping just three days ago. They arrived in the city and stayed in a hotel. During their stay, they did a recce of the area and finalized the plan which was executed today when Mohinder Kumar came out of his house and was going towards his plot.
The accused changed the number plate of the car before committing the crime.
The CP said that the kidnappers kept on beating Mohinder Kumar and also threatened him with dire consequences pointing their arms towards him.
The police have recoevered two pistols from the accused.
