Sub-Inspector Sandeep Kaur of Punjab Police, accused of double suicide scandal in Naya village of Amritsar, was arrested late night inside a Kothi in Hargobindpur village of Gurdaspur district, from Amritsar urban and rural police. A case was registered against her. The arrest has been possible because of the involvement of higher police officials and Punjab CM has been pressing the department to take action soon
After orders passed by the Punjab Government, the Amritsar rural police department has dismissed a woman Sub-Inspector Sandeep Kaur from her service. SI Sandeep Kaur is the prime suspect in the double suicide case.
She was posted at the Mehta police station before she went into a run and hiding after the suicides.
Vikramjit Singh, a jeweller and resident of Navapind village, had committed suicide in a hotel room on October 10. He recorded video and audio messages as a suicide note where he had accused the SI and her accomplices of harassment and blackmail.
He alleged that SI Sandeep Kaur had extorted around Rs 18 lakh from him. A day later, his wife Sukhbir Kaur ended her life at her residence in Navapind village.

Two cases of abetment to suicide were filed against the SI and her unidentified accomplices in this double suicide case.
SSP (Amritsar rural) Dhruv Dahiya, in an order today, pointed out that as the departmental probe would take time, it would not be in the public interest for the SI to continue in service. The crime allegedly perpetrated by her pointed towards criminal mindset and her ability to harm the inquiry officer, he said. She has been dismissed from service with effect from October 20.
