The ongoing electioneering for Lok Sabha polls for the Ludhiana seat took a new turn with the Lok Insaaf Party (LIP) chief and PDA nominee, Simarjit Singh Bains, accusing Congress candidate Ravneet Singh Bittu of taking help of notorious drug-peddler.
To substantiate his allegation, he showed a picture of Bittu’s election meeting in which an alleged ‘chitta dealer’ Sonu Jatt can be seen standing behind the Congress candidate on the stage.
Bains admitted that the said drug peddler was an LIP worker and during the last civic body elections, he was almost nominated as a party candidate.
“However, when his connections with drug trade surfaced, he was thrown out of the party. But now, the same person, who was booked by the police for possessing and selling chitta (synthetic drug), is campaigning for Bittu,” he added.
