Wing of Air India aircraft hits wall at Stockholm airport

In a scary incident, the wing of an Air India aircraft with 179 passengers aboard hit the wall of a building during taxiing at Stockholm Arlanda Airport in Sweden on Wednesday. Fortunately, none of the passengers onboard flight AI 167 were injured in the incident, confirmed an Air India official on Thursday.
The Boeing 787-8 (Dreamliner) plane had departed from New Delhi at 0239 hours and landed in Stockholm at 0530 hours (local time). While the plane was taxiing to the gate, its left wing’s tip struck against the wall, said the official.The incident took place at 5:45 pm (1645 GMT), about 50 meters (yards) from Terminal 5. The authorities are assessing damage to the aircraft.The passengers could “disembark from the plane on a mobile staircase and thereafter enter the terminal,” the Swedish Police had written in a statement.Meanwhile, a witness told Aftonbladet, a Swedish evening newspaper, that the incident led to utter chaos. The witness narrated: “It was filled with police cars, firetrucks, you name it. I said, ‘S**t, the wing is stuck in the wall. You’ve got to be kidding me’.”
