Gangster Davinder Bambiha shot dead in police encounter

Notorious gangster Davinder Bambiha alias Davinder Shooter was shot dead by the Bathinda police in an encounter near Rampura on Friday morning.
He was shot at thrice by the police.
Bambiha was wanted for killing student leader-turned-sarpanch Rajwinder Singh alias Ravi Khwajke. He gunned down Khwajke on February 20 at a marriage function, pumping 14 bullets into his body.
He was wanted in over six murder cases.
Bambiha was an active Facebook user and had blatantly projected the Khwajke murder as his ‘achievement’.

Another gangster Tara Dosanjh sustained bullet injuries in the fierce police encounter which lasted for more than 4 hours in the wee hours of Friday. Dosanjh with bullet injury in the leg has been admitted at civil hospital, Bathinda.The special task force of Punjab police on July 18 had announced reward on Bambiha and another notorious gangster Jaipal. Devinder, 25, a native of village Bambiha in district Moga was facing 20 cases of murder, attempt to murder, extortion, dacoity. He is accused to have killed village Khwajke sarpanch Ravi Khawajke in a gang war only few months ago. Devinder had earned the name of a sharp shooter and was an avid user of social networking site facebook.
The police on a tip off had cordoned off an area near Rampura Phool and engaged in shootout. Devinder and Tara were hiding in a house situated in the fields and retaliated, said police. Devinder with bullet injuries ion his chest was killed in the encounter whereas Tara succeeded in saving him but fell in police net.
Bathinda Zone IG Satish Kumar Asthana and Bathinda SSP Swapan Sharma, who accompanied the injured Tara to Bathinda hospital, said police had a tip off. When the police tried to nab the gangsters they started firing at the police party. The police too fired back in self defence and succeeded in killing Devindeer Bambiha and arresting injured Tara”. IG said the police have recovered a bag which contains 3 weapons and ammunition from near the body of Bambiha.
The security was beefed up at the hospital where injured Tara was brought for treatment and even the journalists were not allowed to go near him to know about his side of the story.
