Newly appointed state AAP convener Gurpreet Ghuggi here today asked former BJP MP Navjot Singh Sidhu to think twice before forming a political party.
“Sidhu was a bit late in talking about the welfare of Punjab as he remained away from the state for too long. He should not let people misuse him for vested interests,” he said. On his predecessor Sucha Singh Chhotepur’s announcement to conduct a state tour, Ghuggi said, “His association with AAP is not yet over.”
About Bhagwant Mann’s absence from the rally, Ghuggi said the AAP MP was in Muktsar to meet the party volunteers who were injured during the clash at yesterday’s Malout rally.

With Ghuggi’s appointment, the party has almost shut its doors on Chhotepur, who is facing an inquiry for allegedly seeking money in return for a ticket. Actor-comedian Ghuggi had joined the party in February this year. He has risen to the high post in the party in about six months. The post of convener had many contenders. Himmat Singh Shergill, head of the legal wing of the party, was the frontrunner. A party spokesperson said the political affairs committee did not discuss the issue of the recent controversies sorrounding the party in Punjab.
