Crime seems to be growing unabated in Punjab’s industrial city of Ludhiana. In yet another incident, unidentified men stabbed a woman to death in New Shivaji Nagar in the wee hours of Tuesday.

The miscreants, five in number according to son of the deceased, gagged Surinder Kaur (40) with a pillow before stabbing her. The assailants also injured her 18 year-old-son, who came to his mother’s rescue.
The woman’s husband, Gurmeet Singh, who was sleeping in the same room, escaped unhurt. The miscreants fled without looting anything.

According to the police, Kaur initially put up a fight but was overpowered.
The police have detained seven tenants, living on the third floor, for questioning. Kaur and her family lived on the first floor.
Assistant commissioner of police (ACP, central) Amandeep Singh Brar said Kaur, along with her husband was sleeping in their bedroom at first floor of the house, while her son Aashu was sleeping in the adjoining room. Her father-in-law Tarlok Singh was asleep on the ground floor.

Gurmeet Singh is presently in a state of shock. Aashu said the miscreants’ faces were covered.
The ACP added that it has been suspected that the miscreants entered from the main gate of the house. He also added that there are some more points to investigate. The police will solve the case soon.
