“Bharatiya Janta Party zindabad” was the slogan that greeted Navjot Kaur Sidhu, BJP MLA from Amritsar (East), as she took a round of her constituency, a day after her husband Navjot Singh Sidhu’s resignation as a member of the Rajya Sabha.

Kaur also praised Prime Minister Modi.
“Modi is doing a great job. He is an honest and a hardworking person. But it is responsibility of states to execute his policies on ground. No person turns bad just because you have moved on. I criticised Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal). But not all the people are bad in that party. SAD has many good people.”
The speculations of cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu joining Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has not only created ripples in the Punjab politics but drew sharp responses from within the party.
About her personal admiration for RSS, she said: “I have seen Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s (RSS) working very closely. I read their books and go to their Shakhas (gatherings). They work for humanity and teach people to respect other religion. RSS works to keep people united and does not divide in the name of religion. There are some people who have wrongly labelled RSS. Respect for the RSS ideology will remain in my mind wherever I work.”

The AAP manifesto committee chairman Kanwar Sandhu have his views on Sidhu couple. Sandhu said though the inclusion of the former cricketer and his wife, Dr Navjot Kaur Sidhu, will strengthen the party, but AAP would have to ensure that their presence does not demoralize its cadres.
Sandhu described Sidhu’s move as a “slap“ on the faces of the party and its ally SAD.
“They have remained part of the BJP for a long time, which does not at all match with APP’s ideology. They have not only been batting for the BJP, but have also been criticizing Arvind Kejriwal and the AAP. They will have to mold themselves in the ideology of AAP. Apart from giving roles to the Sidhu couple according to their capability, AAP would have to ensure that their inclusion does not demoralize its cadres,“ Sandhu said.
“The Sidhu couple’s inclusion can give strength to AAP. But, apprehensions being expressed by some quarters can’t be ignored,” claimed Sandhu.
