A 40-year-old woman of Sunny Enclave, SAS Nagar, who allegedly planted drugs in the car of an SAS Nagar businessman on June 16 was arrested on Monday.
The police have already arrested five people in the case. Bhagwan Singh, an accountant at an SAS Nagar college, was caught with 2.6-kg opium and fake currency worth Rs 15 lakh from Sector 38-West.
The accused, Lovepreet Kaur, runs a beauty parlour in Sunny Enclave. She was held from Charnawala village in Bikaner, Rajasthan.
Police said that she planted the opium and the fake currency in Bhagwan Singh’s car.
Police said Lovepreet Kaur was in touch with Narender Singh of Ludhiana and Navjot Singh of SAS Nagar. They planned to plant drugs in the Bhagwan’s car owing to a property dispute.
“The woman is the main conspirator. She handed over the drugs to Bhagwan. Narender Singh, who was following Bhagwan’s car, kept former UT cop Tarsem Singh Rana in the loop,” superintendent of police Navdeep Singh Brar said.
Bhagwan was arrested on a tip-off by Rana.
