Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Naresh Yadav reached the crime investigation agency (CIA) head office in Sangrur amid high security on Saturday. Yadav, who represents Delhi’s Mehrauli, was named by the prime accused in the Malerkotla Quran desecration incident.
Yadav was accompanied by Sangrur MP Bhagwant Mann, AAP’s Punjab chief Succha Singh Chhotepur and senior advocate Himmat Singh Shergill and reached the CIA office at 11:15 am, after which Yadav’s questioning began. No official statement has been made regarding the questioning.
Almost 25 of Yadav’s supporters from Mehrauli showed up in Sangrur in solidarity with the MP. Raees Ahmed from Mehraulli said,” Yadav cannot do anything like this. During Ramzan, Yadav visited every Muslim’s house in his constituency to convey his good wishes.”
Meanwhile, talking to the media, MLA Yadav said he was available for the police at all times. “I will support the Punjab Police in its investigation. Even if they keep on questioning me till midnight, I will answer each question,” Yadav said.
