The Versova police registered an First Information Report against singer Mika Singh after a Mumbai-based fashion designer approached the police and alleged that he had outraged her modesty.

According to the Versova police, the 27-year-old woman alleged in her complaint that she was at Singh’s Juhu residence at around 2 a.m. on Tuesday when the incident occurred.

“The victim has told us that during this time, she had an argument with Singh over a monetary issue, and during this argument, he pushed her and pulled her hair. The victim and Singh have known each other for the last five years,” said an officer with the Versova police.

Joint Commissioner of Police Deven Bharti confirmed that an FIR had been registered against Singh and added that he had been booked for assault and outraging a woman’s modesty under the Indian Penal Code.

The police are now verifying the allegations made by the woman, and are likely to call Singh for inquiries over the next couple of days. The police are also obtaining footage of CCTV cameras in the building where Singh stays.
