Set ablaze by paramour, woman dies

Muktsar: Bathinda resident Jaspreet Kaur (24), who was allegedly set ablaze by her paramour at a mobile phone shop in Gidderbaha yesterday, succumbed to her injuries at the Guru Gobind Singh Medical College and Hospital, Faridkot, late this evening. Jaspreet, wife of an Army jawan, had sustained 70 per cent burns.
On the basis of her statement given to Judicial Magistrate Harpreet Kaur at the Civil Hospital, Gidderbaha, the police had yesterday booked Pardeep Bansal alias Neeta (33) for attempt to murder. He is yet to be arrested.

SHO Kuldeep Sharma, said, “The victim had allegedly developed relations with Neeta and the latter had rented an accommodation for her at Bathinda. She met him here today to get Rs 2 lakh which she claimed he had borrowed from her a few months ago.”
“As per her statement, Neeta called her at his friend Gauri Kumar’s mobile phone shop near the vegetable market where they had a verbal duel. Thereafter, he poured fuel on her and set her on fire,” the SHO said.
