Capt Amarinder slams Bhagwant Mann, Ghuggi for insulting teachers;
Asks Kejriwal to clarify stands, seeks apology
CHANDIGARH: Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee president Capt Amarinder Singh today condemned the Aam Aadmi Party leaders Bhagwant Mann and Gurpreet Ghuggi for insulting the teachers. He demanded that the two leaders must tender an unconditional apology to the teachers and Arvind Kejriwal must also clarify his stand on the issue.
“This is not just insensitive, but totally insane”, he remarked while adding, “even the inebriated condition, usually associated with one of them, can be no defence for anyone for insulting our teachers”.
In a statement issued here today, Capt Amarinder said, the irresponsible and insensitive behaviour of the two comedian turned politicians has only reinforced the public belief about them that they were not fit to be leaders but should restrict themselves to the business of comedy only.
The PCC president also asked the AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal to clarify his stand on his leaders’ views about teachers. “Otherwise the teaching community in Punjab will believe that you support and subscribe to the insane and insensitive views of your two leaders”, he said, while asking him, “or you believe that they spoke under the usual influence they are habitual of, particularly Bhagwant Mann”.
Capt Amarinder expressed complete solidarity with the teaching fraternity, saying they are builders and torch bearers of the nation. “We cannot blame our teachers for the rot in the system”, he made it clear, while pointing out, “let us not forget that our former Prime Minister and renown economist Dr Manmohan Singh has studied in a government school only
