Punjabi Singer KS Makhan (Kuldeep Singh Khalsa ) speaks up on the song by AAP leader Kumar Vishwas. The video of Kuldeep Singh Khalsa in which he questions Kumar Vishwas for his song Nasha has gone viral on social media.

On the other hand, Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) rebel MP from Patiala Dr. Dharamvira Gandhi said the recent song Ek Nasha sung and released by AAP leader Kumar Vishwas on the drug problem in Punjab has painted the entire Punjabi community as drug addicts, especially the Jats. He said this will only backfire at the party’s electoral prospect in the coming Assembly elections next year.

“This song, which has been released as a campaign song against drugs in Punjab is nothing more that politics of symbolism,” Mr. Gandhi, who was suspended from the party’s primary membership last year, told The Hindu on Sunday. Mr. Gandhi said instead of this song AAP should come out with a concrete policy to destroy the drug mafia in Punjab.

“It (song) insults Punjabis… It is wrong to project the Jat community as drug addicts…There is a general perception among masses that it will backfire at party’s electoral prospect in the coming elections,” said Mr. Gandhi.

He said the song only restates the existence of drug problem which has been repeatedly stated over the years and everyone is aware of it. AAP should instead tell people of the State how the party plans to end or contain the drug problem, he added.
