NEW DELHI: Delhi police on Tuesday arrested a BSF constable for allegedly stealing bags from the conveyer belt of the Indira Gandhi International airport.
The arrested constable, police said, was a national level football player who had won 11 medals.

The accused — 34-year-old Jasbir Singh alias Sheera, a resident of Punjab — was nabbed while he was stealing two bags.
Singh had stolen a checked-in bag from the luggage conveyer belt and used it as his hand bag while boarding another flight, police said.

DCP (airport) DK Gupta said that on June 7, they received a complaint from Air India security about a checked-in bag that had been stolen on May 11. The passenger whose luggage was stolen had taken a Lucknow-Delhi flight.
Gupta said that on receiving information, they registered an FIR and started probe. During the probe, the police received information about another theft that had taken place on May 13.
Gupta said the police team formed to probe the case looked at CCTV footage and zeroed in on three men who had travelled from Amritsar to Delhi on May 11 and taken a connecting flight to Ahmedabad.
