Gurdaspur : BJP leader’s son held for extortion

Punjab Vigilance Bureau has nabbed a Gurdaspur resident for impersonating as an IPS officer from Himachal.

Disclosing this here today an official spokesman of Vigilance Bureau informed that Rahul Kumar son of Munishwar Kumar, a resident of Ward No. 11, Green Avenue, Bajwa Colony, Govt. College Road, Gurdaspur, who was impersonating as an IPS officer posted as SP, Vigilance Bureau, Punjab, has been arrested by a team of Vigilance Bureau, Amritsar from Dharamshala, District Kangra in Himachal Pradesh.
Rahul is the son of former BJP MLA Roop Rani. She was BJP MLA from Dinanagar in Punjab during 1997-2002.

An FIR has been registered against him in Batala under various sections of IPC, he said.
It has been learnt that Rahul, impersonating as a Vigilance Officer, had called Punjab Roadways General Manager Harjinder Singh for getting some work done, who complained to the Vigilance Department.
